Three latches, chambers, and doorways for Self-realization

[眞我 成就의 三關, 三房, 三門 作用]


大辯經에曰 
惟天一神이 冥冥在上 
乃以三大三圓三一之爲靈符者로
大降降于萬萬世之萬萬民하시니 
一切가 惟三神所造오
心氣身이 必須相信이나 未必永劫相守하며
靈智意三識이 卽爲靈覺生三魂이나 亦因其素以能衍하며 
形年魂이 嘗與境으로 有所感息觸者오 
而眞妄相引하야 三途乃歧하니
故로 曰有眞而生하고 有妄而滅이라 
於是에 人物之生이 均是一其眞源하니라

[The Three Latches, the Three Chambers, and the Three Doorways for Self-realization]

The following is recorded in the Daebyeongyeong (“Scriptures of Great Discourse”): The One God (Samsin Sangjenim) in heaven resides in the highest of heavens. It is embodied by the vastness of three; the completeness of three; and the unity of three. It grandly bestows these three qualities on all humans of the world for all of eternity. All things were thus created solely by Samsin. 

Though the mind(心), qi(氣), and the body(身) must be mutually dependent, they do not retain each other eternally. Though the three knowings (knowing through spirit(靈), wisdom(智), and consciousness(意)) give rise to the three souls (spirit soul(靈), awakening soul(覺), and physical soul(生)), the three souls can expand outward from this foundation.

As the body, life, and soul are exposed to their surroundings, feeling(感), breathing(息), and sensation(觸) arise. The three truths (nature, life, and essence) and the three delusions (mind, qi, and body) inspire one another, and the three paths (feeling, breathing, and sensation) branch off from them. Therefore it is said there is life for the three truths and there is death for the three delusions. As such, the lives of humans and all other things share a single source.
