Part 1.2: The Core Theory of The Triadic Principle

III. The Birth of Existence: Symmetry Breaking, Duality, and the Simultaneous Emergence of the Regulator

How does the world of ‘Being’ arise from the primordial equilibrium of ‘Perfect Symmetry’? Creation inevitably occurs through a single yet paradoxical event called ‘Symmetry Breaking.’

The moment a minute crack appears in the balance of the perfectly uniform waves of cosmic pure consciousness due to an unknown inherent cause—that is, the moment a phase difference occurs and a variation in rhythm begins—is the very first moment of reality creation. This aligns with the principle in modern cosmology where the perfect pair-annihilation balance of particles and antiparticles is slightly offset by ‘CP Violation,’ allowing the survival of ‘surplus particles’ (matter). (Of course, this is an analogy to aid understanding in the phenomenal world.)

This initial imbalance marks the beginning of ‘Being.’ However, this ‘breaking’ is not mere chaos or division. It is an event with two faces: the birth of ‘Duality’ and the simultaneous emergence of the ‘Regulator.’ The very instant an imbalance of +1 arises, The Center (Jung) simultaneously permits a relative imbalance of -1 to maintain the overall equilibrium (0) (the birth of duality), while concurrently activating a force to restore that broken balance to a higher state of harmony (the appearance of the Regulator).

This regulating power is not merely a reactive correction (Feedback) to phenomenal deviations. The very moment a minute imbalance or deviation occurs in the realm of ‘Affairs (Sa),’ a correction process and a plan for the next stage of order are already operating proactively in the realm of ‘Spirit (Shin).’ This is demonstrated in the operation of nature, where the First Yin is already born when the energy of Yang reaches its peak at the Summer Solstice to prepare for Winter, and the First Yang is born when the energy of Yin reaches its peak at the Winter Solstice to prepare for Summer. This shows that the order of nature is being tuned with extreme precision internally.

This is precisely ‘the inevitable emergence of the Regulator within the symmetry breaking.’ In Eastern terms, it marks the beginning of the eternal ‘dynamic competitive interaction (Seung-Bu-Jak-Yong)’ of Yin and Yang within Taegeuk. Because of the safety mechanism called ‘Regulator,’ the imbalance and phase difference deviating from perfect uniformity do not lead to destructive chaos but paradoxically become the driving force of creation, birthing Diversity and Complexity. Amidst all this change and chaos, ‘The Center,’ which is eternally present as the foundation of the universe, constantly strives to balance the whole. This is the ‘Autonomous Regulating Consciousness’ that grants order to cosmic operation.

The duality revealed through this first moment of great creation is the essence of what Eastern philosophy calls Yin and Yang. Yin and Yang are not irreconcilable enemies, but two partners dancing eternally on the single stage of Taegeuk, following the orchestration of the invisible conductor, ‘The Center.’

  • Yang: Attributes of divergence, ascent, invisibility, lightness, possibility, spirit, metaphysics, and Wave. Corresponds to the active, causal aspect of creation, and to ‘Spirit (Shin)’ in the Li-Shin-Sa framework.
  • Yin: Attributes of convergence, descent, visibility, heaviness, reality, matter, physics, and Particle. Corresponds to the passive, resultant aspect of creation, and to ‘Affairs (Sa)’ in the Li-Shin-Sa framework.

The proposition "Once becoming Yin, and once becoming Yang—this is called the Dao (一陰一陽之謂道)" means that ‘existence’ is nothing other than a grand drama unfolded by the two extremes of this broken symmetry constantly interacting with each other as conditions. This insight into the ‘Process’ of Yin and Yang shares its roots with the Buddhist truth of existence: "Form is Emptiness, Emptiness is Form."

Interpreting this as a dynamic process from the perspective of The Triadic Principle: The process of creation where invisible possibility (Emptiness/Yang) manifests as visible reality (Form/Yin) is ‘First Yang (Il-Yang),’ and the process of convergence where manifested reality (Form) returns to possibility (Emptiness) is ‘First Yin (Il-Eum).’ Thus, the eternal dance of ‘Once becoming Yin, once becoming Yang’ is the rhythm of cosmic generation where ‘Form’ and ‘Emptiness,’ essentially one, unfold by transforming into particle and wave over time. (This Yin-Yang/Particle-Wave mapping shares a similar view with Niels Bohr’s Complementarity Principle.) However, the Yin-Yang theory of The Triadic Principle is distinct in that it expands this into the fundamental duality of existence and change, presenting an integrated worldview through the active role of ‘The Center’ as the Regulator.
