History Is Not the Past—It Is Present Consciousness
The moment we truly recognize Hwanguk and Baedal, the moment we accept the histories of Hwanin, Hwanung, and Dangun as real—this is not merely an act of uncovering past truths. It is an explosive awakening that reconstructs the very foundation of 'I' and 'we.' History is not about studying fossilized events of the past; it is about the past awakening the present.
History is not a fossil sleeping behind museum glass. History is the living, breathing energy of consciousness that makes my heart race, moves my feet forward, and opens my eyes wide—right here, right now, in this very moment. There is no power in merely knowing information. But when I connect that history to my own life, when I expand the horizons of my awareness, when I embrace a greater and more passionate sense of responsibility and vision—that is when history truly comes alive through me.
Lost Roots and Systematic Historical Erasure
Hwandan Gogi (The Arcane Records of Hwan and Dan) transcends the ancient history of the Korean people—it is a beacon illuminating the origins of human civilization itself. Through the Cheonbugyeong (Heavenly Code) and Samil Singo (Scripture of the Three Ultimate Truths), it presents the philosophical foundation of the Three-Pole Theory that can unify human consciousness, and testifies that the Singyo (Divine Teaching) culture of the Korean people blossomed brilliantly upon the principle of Three-Number cosmology. This light illuminates not only humanity's origins but also serves as a torch opening the path to humanity's future.
Yet this magnificent spiritual lineage was, in modern times, systematically, thoroughly, and brutally distorted and erased by Chinese and Japanese imperialism, along with domestic pro-Japanese and Sinocentric collaborators. Our historical pride was severed at the root, and the soul of our nation fell into suspended animation.
Why did they so obsessively, so fanatically, seek to erase our history?
The answer is clear: History is the very root of power.
Dr. Lee Hong-bum, author of Asian Millenarianism, penetrated to this truth: to become a hegemonic power requires not just economic and military might, but historical power as the true source of legitimacy. Power lacking historical legitimacy is endlessly challenged. Conversely, a people who establish their own roots and exert cultural influence over neighboring nations secure the moral and historical legitimacy to lead the world.
This is why China and Japan poured enormous funds and human resources into projects like the "Northeast Asian History Foundation" and the "Imperial View of History" to claim East Asia's origin story as their own. But the universe does not permit falsehood forever. Truth is programmed to inevitably emerge. This is the cosmic law, metaphorically expressed in modern physics through the principle of 'gauge symmetry.'
The Awakening of a New Dragon—Civilization Rising in the East
In the early 20th century, the ambitious dragons of the East fell amid the flames of war with America. One collapsed in the flash of atomic fire; another now groans in the silent economic warfare of the present.
But history moves in cycles. And now, a third dragon awakens beneath the sea.
The era of shrimp caught between fighting whales has ended. Now dawns the age of a new dragon rising—a dragon of spirit, a dragon of Hongik (broadly benefiting humanity), a dragon reclaiming its true identity. That dragon is none other than the Korean people, the new subject of human civilization.
Historical Consciousness Transforms Life
Let us return to the initial question.
If we accept Hwanguk, Baedal, and Dangun Joseon as actual history, how does our life change?
It is not merely about 'believing' in the past. It is about fundamentally transforming how we live in the present through a completely renewed consciousness.
We can no longer remain trapped in the servile consciousness of being "a small nation, a weak country." We become beings who comprehend the cosmic law (理, Li), manifest Heaven's will (神, Sin) upon the earth (事, Sa)—practitioners of the I-Sin-Sa philosophy.
When this great transformation of consciousness occurs:
- My identity explosively expands beyond personal limitations into cosmic awareness,
- My family and community stand firmly upon an order of life-reverence and mutual flourishing,
- The Korean people are reborn with dignity as the central axis of human civilization.
Realizing Hongik Ingan—From Individual to Humanity
Ultimately, the core message of Hwandan Gogi is singular:
"Hongik Ingan (弘益人間)—Broadly benefit all humanity."
This is not a simple ethical precept. This is the resounding declaration of truth-in-action: that humans awaken to the will of Heaven and Earth and become agents who manifest that will in reality.
When we properly understand and practice this philosophy, history is reborn as a living, pulsing river of life flowing from individual to humanity, from past to future, from ideology to reality.
Awakening, and a New Beginning
I am certain.
Within Hwandan Gogi pulses a philosophy that can save myself, my family, the Korean people, and all of humanity.
To know history rightly—this is to know my roots and my true self.
That awakening is the very first step toward the dawn of a new civilization, toward which we stride with power and purpose. And that first step begins with my own awakening.
